Chase was added to the active roster on May 30. De Jong returned to the Pirates by signing a minor league contract on March 16, 2022. He was given the Indianapolis Indians of the Class AAA International League, where he teamed up with Yerry De Los Santos and Austin Brice to pitch a no-hitter.
