Batum was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for the rights to Darrell Arthur and Joey Dorsey after the Houston Rockets selected him with the 25th overall choice in the 2008 NBA Draft. After clearing waivers, Batum signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on December 1, 2020. Batum re-signed with the Clippers on July 6, 2022, for a two-year contract.
