American professional baseball manager Buck Showalter oversees the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to this, he managed the Texas Rangers (2003–2006), Arizona Diamondbacks (1998–2000), New York Yankees (1992–1955), and Baltimore Orioles (2010–2018). Additionally, he has experience playing Minor League Baseball professionally and has worked as a broadcast analyst for ESPN and the YES Network for Yankees games.

Showalter has developed a reputation for quickly turning baseball teams into playoff contenders. Before a players’ strike halted the 1994 season early, he assisted the Yankees in their ascent from last place in the AL East to first. In just the second season of the team’s existence, under his management, the Diamondbacks made their first-ever playoff trip. Showalter, despite his notoriety, has never participated in a World Series; oddly, he left the Yankees and Diamondbacks right before their respective World Series-winning seasons.

Showalter has been the winningest active manager in MLB without a World Series victory since Dusty Baker’s victory in the 2022 World Series. He has, however, made it to the postseason six times in 21 seasons, including once to the League Championship Series.

He is the third manager to win four Manager of the Year titles, the eighth to win the honor in both the American and National League and the only one to have done so in four distinct decades. He has won the award three times in the American League (AL) and once in the National League (NL).

Buck is a star manager at the Mets and is a happily married guy. He has been married to the love of his life, his wife Angela. The couple got married back in 1983 and are together since then. When Buck was still a player in Nashville, the two initially met. They quickly began dating and ultimately got hitched on March 5, 1983.

Through the nonprofit organization, KidsPeace, Angela has served as a philanthropist and social crusader for the benefit of children. The group provides foster children with resources for education, housing, and foster care.

Both William Nathaniel IV, also known as Nathan, and Allie St. Clair Showalter Robinson are children of Buck and Angela.

Buck was born on 23 May 1956 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, United States to parents William Nathaniel Showalter II and Lina Carrie Showalter. His father played American football and taught high school. In the same school where Showalter read, Showalter II used to teach. His mother, Lina, was a stay-at-home mom. When her son arrived and witnessed Showalter’s managing style in action on the baseball pitch, she was a proud mother.

Several years ago, Showalter’s father passed away. There is no comprehensive information available on this. But his mother, Lina, passed away in October 2015. He is not the only child in the family as he has 3 siblings named Melanie Killam, Malinda Williford, and Marina Chancery.
