Cornerback Michael Carter II plays for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). In the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jets selected him out of Duke University’s football program. Coming out of high school, 247Sports.com had Carter rated as a three-star recruit. On July 4, 2016, he made a commitment to Duke.

On May 1, 2021, the New York Jets selected Carter with the 154th overall choice in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Coincidentally, earlier that day in the fourth round of the draught, the Jets selected a different Michael Carter from North Carolina, a rival institution.
