Who Has the Most MLB Single-Season Home Runs?
Major League Baseball (MLB) has seen multiple stars grab headlines since the early 1900s. Baseball has given birth to legends such as Ty Cobb, Sammy Sosa, Babe Ruth, and Alex Rodriguez. But right there amongst the best, is the name of former Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants star, Barry Bonds.
Now 56, Bonds started his MLB journey with the Pirates back in 1986. During his 22-year career in the big league, Bonds went on to establish himself as one of the game’s greatest-ever runs scorers.
But what are the different records that Bonds holds as of 2021?

Barry Bonds spent the entirety of his career playing for just two MLB teams, the Pirates and Giants. But he went down in history as one of the greatest to ever do it. One of the records that Barry still holds is that of the most MLB single-season home runs.
At the age of 36, while playing for the Giants in 2001, Bonds hit a mammoth 73 home runs. He also holds the all-time record for most career home runs (762).
Another baseball star who was also a prolific hitter during his heyday was Hank Aaron. ‘The Hammer’ passed away in January 2021, and Bonds was one of the first to pay homage to one of the MLB’s evergreen legends.
“I want to send my heartfelt and warmest condolences to the Aaron family on their loss today. I was lucky enough to spend time with Hank on several occasions during my career and have always had the deepest respect and admiration for all that he did both on and off the field. He is an icon, a legend and a true hero to so many, who will forever be missed.”

“Hank Aaron – thank you for everything you ever taught us, for being a trailblazer through adversity and setting an example for all of us African American ball players who came after you. Being able to grow up and have the idols and role models I did, help shape me for a future I could have never dreamed of. Hank’s passing will be felt by all of us who love the game and his impact will forever be cemented in my heart,” Bonds wrote on Instagram.
