Who are the top 5 highest-paid Offensive Tackles (OTs) in the NFL this year?
Football games are frequently referred to as being won or lost in the trenches. Both Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes might concur if you ask them about their most recent Super Bowl appearances. The big boys on the offensive side of the ball get paid handsomely to guard their quarterback’s blind side.
The NFL’s highest-paid offensive tackles market has undergone a significant change during the last two seasons. Who earns the most money as an offensive tackle in the NFL, and who else makes up the top 5 at the position?
Heading into the 2022 season, here is a list of the highest-paid offensive tackles:
1) Trent Williams, San Francisco 49ers
A six-year, $138.06 million contract between the 49ers and Williams was reached in the wee hours of March 17, 2021. With a $30.1 million signing bonus, $55.1 million of that amount is guaranteed. Williams has now overtaken the other offensive tackles in terms of AAV and signing bonus.
Keeping Trent Williams was essential for the 49ers. He's the best LT in the NFL. Top tier pass protector and best run blocker, and Shanahan offense asks him to do things other LTs can't do.

2) David Bakhtiari, Green Bay Packers
David Bakhtiari rose to the position of highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL for the 2020 campaign. The Packers‘ left tackle agreed to a four-year, $92 million contract deal. The only thing that was guaranteed in the contract was a $30 million signing bonus.

In 2022, Bakhtiari was expected to add almost $23 million to the Packers’ salary cap. He will yet contribute $14.577 million against the limit in 2022 as a result of a contract restructuring. These cap amounts will increase to $30.128,000 in 2023 and then to $34.1288,000 in the last year of the agreement.
3) Laremy Tunsil, Houston Texans
Tunsil and the Texans reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension as his current deal approaches its conclusion in 2020. The contract is worth $66 million. With the start of the 2020 NFL season, Tunsil will be the highest-paid OT in the league according to the agreement.

In Tunsil’s agreement, $40 million was fully guaranteed, and on the third day of the 2021 league year, an additional $10 million in base pay for 2022 also became fully guaranteed. This agreement ought to keep Tunsil in Houston until at least 2023, after which the Texans will have the option of terminating the agreement.
4) Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens
During the 2020 campaign, Ronnie Stanley agreed to a new contract. He was the second-highest paid offensive tackle at the time of the contract’s signing, only behind Houston Texans LT Laremy Tunsil. His $98.75 million, five-year deal extension has an AAV of $19.75 million.
Stanley will cost the Ravens $18.52 million of their 2022 salary limit. In terms of signing bonuses and salary guarantees, Stanley earned a $22.5 million bonus, had wages that were completely guaranteed in 2020 and 2021, and now has a further $9.5 million in the form of a basic salary guarantee for 2022.
5) Ryan Ramczyk, New Orleans Saints
Right offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk is now the highest-paid offensive tackle in the league. Prior to the 2021 season, the Saints and Ramczyk reached an agreement. Over five extra years, the contract received $96 million in new funding. Ramczyk’s current contract runs until the 2026 campaign.
A $19 million signing bonus, $43 million guaranteed at signing, and $60 million in total guarantees were included in the extension. Ramczyk’s pay for the Saints this year will just be $8.476 million.
