White Sox Is Open For Trade But That Will Exclude Their Four Star Players

The Chicago White Sox lost two of three games against the St. Louis Cardinals to cap a disappointing first half of the 2023 season. The game featured some of the year’s worst baseball.

White Sox Is Open For Trade But That Will Exclude Their Four Star Players

The White Sox concluded the first half of the 2023 MLB season with a 38-54 record, the fifth-lowest winning percentage in all of baseball, after losing their most recent series to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The White Sox have components they can use, but it will be necessary to let some go if they want to give this squad another shot to excel.

The White Sox may start their sell-off this week, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman. But don’t anticipate any significant trades since, according to Heyman, the White Sox have four players they are unwilling to move by August 1. And if that’s the case, there won’t be any highly regarded prospects visiting the south side in the ensuing three weeks.

The three next free agents, Keynan Middleton, Reynaldo Lopez, and Lucas Giolito, are most likely to be dealt. Giolito, who will provide the greatest value, is anticipated to attract interest from the Reds, Rangers, and other teams.

All-Star centre fielder Luis Robert Jr., outfielder/DH Eloy Jimenez, first baseman Andrew Vaughn, and right-handed starting pitcher Dylan Cease are said to be the four untouchables.

Having said that, trading Robert at this stage would be absurd. He is still under contract until 2025 and has two excellent options for 2026 and 2027. He is a top player. But what about Jimenez, Vaughn, and Cease? Any of the three should be the subject of a trade.

Right-handed starting pitcher Lucas Giolito will be sought after by clubs all around the league trying to acquire a big name, making him one of the White Sox players most likely to be sold by the trade deadline on August 1.

Lance Lynn, a seasoned starter, is also attracting some interest on the trade market. The Texas Rangers have lately expressed a keen interest in Lynn, according to Bob Nightengale.

The White Sox clearly intend to keep them at this moment, even if they may potentially listen on their four cornerstone players, who would bring back much more.

It’s intriguing that sources did not claim that excellent young players Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech fall under the same nearly untouchable group.

I’m not convinced the White Sox should operate under the assumption that four of their players will be untouchable at the trade deadline.
