When It Came To His Wedding, Steelers’ Kenny Pickett Left Out His Star Teammate

When he and his wife Amy Paternoster said their “I do’s” last month following the conclusion of the Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp, Kenny Pickett seemed to be having the grand ball of weddings.

The wedding looked to have everything necessary for a memorable evening, including some ice sculptures with Steelers themes. The wedding was conducted by the team chaplain Kent Chevalier, and Pittsburgh painter Cody Sabol created a portrait of the happy couple.

Only one Heyward family member—and not the one you may expect—was invited by the quarterback to his wedding.

While Cam, Pickett’s elder brother and standout pass rusher, was not invited to his wedding last month, Connor Heyward was.

For the second time this summer, Cam Heyward brought Pickett back to his podcast Not Just Football. The two had a lot of conversations regarding the club and the upcoming season.

Heyward then brought up the wedding, to which he had not been invited.

“I really gotta grill you first because I’m kind of mad at you,” Heyward joked. “How did Connor [Heyward] get the invite to the wedding and I didn’t?”

Pickett burst up laughing.

“You know Connor’s my guy,” Pickett said. “Connor’s my guy. He had a good time. We go back to ’17. I tried to get him to go to Pitt.”

Heyward’s situation was made worse, and others watching found it amusing, by the fact that Connor neglected to invite Cam.

They continued talking about the wedding as Cam thought it sounded delicious that Pickett and his wife had a shrimp and oyster bar. After that, Pickett amused Cam by joking that he was not invited to Cam’s wedding in 2013.

“Back to this wedding, I’m not done with this, shrimp, oysters. It was a mean setup. I still didn’t get the invite. I’m pissed,” Heyward said. “What makes it even worse is Connor invited my other brother to the wedding, Corey. They both went to the wedding, and I still didn’t. I’m not even my brother’s first choice.”

Ultimately, it was just casual conversation, and the two will probably still be making jokes about it when Steelers training camp starts up in Latrobe next week.
