What is the reason behind some NFL teams not having cheerleaders in 2022?
NFL games are often action-packed events even when the footballers take a break or timeout during matchups. This is because the cheerleaders are present to keep fans entertained. However, not all of the 32 NFL franchises have cheerleaders to support their teams.
Which teams don’t have cheerleaders?
In fact, there are a total of seven teams that do not have cheerleaders as part of their organization. The NFL teams that don’t have cheerleaders are the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Cleveland Browns. However, the reason behind not having any cheerleaders is due to the fact that the teams participate in areas where it gets too cold.
In 2008, 2 dancers became the first male cheerleaders in the NFL. Now in 2022, Jus will become the first teawoman to make the squad. More so, some of these stadiums are also open-air stadiums which do not help when the weather gets too chilly. As cheerleaders are often on their toes and in skimpy outfits to please the crowd with their acts, it’s simply not feasible for the women.
While some of these teams did have cheerleaders in the past, the organizations have decided to stop them from performing and others have completely dissolved their cheerleading squads.
The Bills sometimes use cheerleaders from local colleges or universities to help roar the team during matchups. The Packers also follow a similar routine now and then whenever they can have conditions that suit cheerleaders.

However, the Giants and the Bears have never had cheerleading squads as part of their respective teams. This is solely due to the cold climate in both, New York and Chicago when the NFL season kicks off.
