What Is The “Fat Boy” Controversy Surrounded Around Blue Jays Manager John Schneider?

When his club faced the New York Yankees on Tuesday, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider made headlines.

When the two teams were trading blows in the third inning, the 43-year-old appeared to plainly yell, “Shut up, fat boy,” to someone looking in the direction of the Yankee bench.

What Is The “Fat Boy” Controversy Surrounded Around Blue Jays Manager John Schneider?

After Toronto accused the Yankees of using dubious techniques to enable an Aaron Judge home run in the first game, tensions were already high. The Blue Jays’ nitpicking of the base coaches’ alignment while lining up awkwardly themselves only made matters worse.

However, Schneider’s reaction raises the question of what he actually said and to whom.

Some supporters think that Schneider may have yelled at Rojas. Others, meantime, have speculated that Schneider may have insulted Yankees manager Aaron Boone with his remarks.

Theories have been suggested that Schneider and several Yankees staff members may have been in conflict. There haven’t been any substantiated rumors as to who the “fat boy” remark was specifically directed at, though.

The Blue Jays believed that Aaron Judge’s sideways eye movement before to his home run during the eighth inning of Monday’s Yankees triumph may have been caused by the Yankees coaches inadvertently tipping off players to what pitch was coming.

Regardless, John Schneider received a lot of backlash on Twitter for his remarks.

Domingo German, the Yankees’ opening pitcher, was removed later in the third inning after passing a drug test. However, New York was able to pull out a 6-3 victory to go up 2-0 in the contentious series.

There are two games left in this four-game series between the Yankees and Jays in Toronto after which they won’t play again until September, when they will face off in two series over the course of ten days.
