What is a Hall of Fame in MLB? How is a Hall of Famer Decided?
Major League Baseball is one of the most popular games in America, and several players try their luck to achieve greatness in this sport. However, everyone can’t make a name for themselves in the sphere of this highly competitive sport that requires one to be extremely agile and fit every time they are hitting the pitch. With excellent performances and the ability to turn the fate of the matches single-handedly, the players are provided with the opportunity to feature at the top level for their respective teams and eventually feature in the MLB Hall of Fame, a coveted place every player can ever dream of featuring in.
As already discussed, it is not easy for a player to be inducted into the hall of fame as far as Major League Baseball is concerned. One needs to make sure to perform at the best of his potential at the highest level consistently to ensure that he can become a part of the hall of fame in the history of Major League Baseball. To achieve this feat, the players need to train at the top of their durability and ensure that they perform to the best of their abilities while going out on the pitch.
Speaking of the selection process about which players will be inducted in the hall of fame in Major League Baseball, are currently inducted into the Hall of Fame through election by either the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (or BBWAA), or the Veterans Committee, which now consists of four subcommittees, each of which considers and votes for candidates from a separate era of baseball. This is currently the process that decides the fate of the players in terms of their induction in the MLB hall of fame.

As additional information to this, any player who has at least 10 years of experience in playing Major League Baseball, can be selected at least five years after he retires from the game, depending on how he has performed over the span of his career. The players are eligible to be elected by BBWAA members with 10 years’ membership or more for their induction in the MLB hall. There are typically 25-40 candidates on the final ballot, and the writers can vote for them for their induction in the hall of fame. It is a critical decision taken while keeping several things in the back of mind. Each writer can vote for as many as 10 players for their induction in the MLB hall.
Every player whose name is present in the ballot box can be considered for this prestigious award of a lifetime. Players receiving 5% or more of the votes but fewer than 75% are reconsidered annually until a maximum of ten years of eligibility, which is the standard procedure of inducting the players in the hall of fame as far as Major League Baseball is concerned.
