What Are The Technical Foul Rules In NBA? Explained!
In the NBA, fouls can be discussed in a variety of ways, but for the sake of this discussion, let’s go technical. Any player or coach who earns two technical fouls in a single game is automatically disqualified and removed from the game, and this rule applies to basketball at almost all levels. The NBA is no different.
A feature exclusive to the NBA is the technical foul total, which, should a person rack up enough, can lead to an immediate ban.
After how many technical fouls does one automatically get suspended? The NBA’s regulations regarding technical fouls and time missed by players are as follows.

What Are The Technical Foul Rules In NBA? Explained!
A technical foul can be assessed for a variety of reasons. Let’s take a look at some of the most common ones.

Players may also transgress certain behavior restrictions. A tech is frequently the consequence of breaking them.
These might include using derogatory comments against the referees. It may also be evaluated for touching a referee, making excessive complaints about a call, using foul language, mocking, or having staff on the ground from the bench. The following infractions require an instant ejection of the player or coach.
Ummm I hope the @NBA is promoting a technical foul here. I will have nightmares with this mean mug celebration and should not be allowed in this game. Can’t use this as a highlight if your refs are calling ridiculous celebrations techs. @TCIIIESQ @ArmenSaryan @Brian_Butch https://t.co/FMm3iUuVt6

Fines
An NBA player is fined for every technical foul he receives. Fines for technical fouls are tiered, as a player is fined more as he inches closer to his 16th technical.
Here’s how much a player is fined for a technical foul in the NBA:
- TF 1-5: $2,000 fine each
- TF 6-10: $3,000 fine each
- TF 11-15: $4,000 fine each
- TF 16: $5,000 fine + one game suspension
- Each additional TF: $5,000 fine
- Each two additional TF (18, 20, etc.): $5,000 fine + one-game suspension
That might be the most composed technical foul I’ve ever seen

Across the NBA the technicals have been far too quick this season. Let the boys play ball

- TF 7: $5,000 fine + one-game suspension
- Each additional TF: $5,000 fine
- Each two additional TF (9,11, etc.): $5,000 fine + one-game suspension
