What About Peyton Manning Annoyed Tom Brady The Most?

The greatest mystery in professional football now that Tom Brady’s lost Super Bowl jersey has been located has to do with Peyton Manning and the real significance of his “Omaha” call.

What About Peyton Manning Annoyed Tom Brady The Most?

A number of players have attempted to explain the unexplained audio call in the last few years. Once, Eli Manning was questioned about it, Aaron Rodgers attempted to clarify it, and at one time, we even had former colleague Reggie Wayne attempt to elucidate the significance of Omaha.

Tom Brady recently disclosed on his Let’s Go! podcast that Brady used to chafe at a certain aspect of his game.

In response to a query from Jim Gray concerning the history of Manning’s now-iconic “Omaha” pre-snap call, Brady was answering. Recently, Eli Manning stated that Brady was the one who originally thought of idea.

“Obviously, that came from our system. There’s playbooks that get passed on and passed down… We used ‘alpha’, ‘omaha’, and these are all code words for snap counts. Peyton used it so well, it used to piss me off how you can get so many people offside. And I was like what the f*** is he doing that’s so different than when I used to do it. Peyton was unbelievable that he could use it the way he did.”

Surprisingly, Manning responded when asked what “Omaha” meant when questioned during a late-March visit at the Adobe Summit.

“Omaha was just an indicator word,” Manning explained from the Las Vegas event. “It was a trigger word that meant we had changed the play, there was low time on the clock and the ball needed to be snapped right now to kind of let my offensive lineman know that ‘Hey, we’d gone to Plan B, there’s low time on the clock.’ It’s a rhythmic three-syllable word, ‘O-ma-ha, set hut.”

Whoa. Mystery resolved.

The all-time best quarterback was Tom Brady. His seven Super Bowl victories, five MVP awards, and the numerous passing records he broke all speak for themselves.

Even while Brady has received unparalleled recognition, some contend that Peyton Manning, a fellow contemporary, has superior quarterbacking fundamentals and a larger body of work.
