“We Are Currently the 2 Best Bantamweights in the UFC”- Jose Aldo Makes His Case for a Title Shot Against Aljamain Sterling Ahead of Cejudo and Dillashaw

Things are heating up in the bantamweight division in the UFC. With Aljamain Sterling at the helm, the likes of Jose Aldo, TJ Dillashaw, and Henry Cejudo are all vying for a chance to secure a title shot against the champion ‘Funkmaster’.

After an impressive win over Petr Yan, ‘Funkmaster’ called out TJ Dillashaw and stated that he would like the former champion to be his next title defense. However, it appears as though Sterling has had a change in opinion and is considering a fight against former featherweight champion and MMA legend Jose Aldo as his next fight.

Aldo made his case for a title shot over Cejudo and Dillashaw on Twitter. He said, “Aljamain, I am waiting for you to sign the contract for our fight. There is no doubt that the fans want to watch this fight. We are currently the 2 best bantamweights in the UFC.”

‘Junior’ took shots at Dillashaw and shared why he deserves the title shot ahead of him saying, “Let the rest of the boys fighting each other and exchanging insults on the internet. In my opinion it does not make any sense to let a guy who got suspended for 2 years for cheating to come back and fight for the belt after winning a split decision in a fight I think he lost.”

Henry Cejudo also was not spared by ‘The King of Rio’ who said, “The other one is a clown who faked his retirement just to try to raise his purse – as that did not work now he wants to fight for the title after spending 2 years out of the game (and out of the USADA’s pool).”

Aljamain Sterling has a plethora of options ahead of him

TJ Dillashaw, Sterling’s first choice, is currently nursing an injury. At this point in time, his date of return is not known, the UFC might give Aldo the title shot ahead of Dillashaw if he still has a long time to go before he can return to action. If not the title shot is definitely Dillashaw’s.

Henry Cejudo is currently out of this conversation as he will only clear the USADA testing period of six months towards the end of October. There is a good chance that we might not even see Cejudo compete in 2022.
