WATCH: Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson brutally mocks Cardinals QB Kyler Murray with Call of Duty celebration
On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings beat the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 34–26, giving them a record of 6–1 for the season. Nobody was happier with the result than Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson, who began his career with the Cardinals and spent the first ten years of his professional career with them.
As was made quite clear on Sunday, Peterson did not part ways with the Arizona Cardinals on amicable terms, despite the fact that he was a brilliant defensive player in Arizona and earned All-Pro honors three times during his stint with the Cardinals.
During the course of the game, Peterson turned in an outstanding performance, intercepting three passes that were thrown his way. In the third quarter, safety Harrison Smith intercepted Kyler Murray’s pass, and Adrian Peterson celebrated in the end zone by pretending to play video games. This was a clear allusion to Murray’s well-known affinity for gaming. Peterson’s jab at Murray following the game was met with circumspection on Peterson’s part.

“It was Call of Duty if I recall correctly,” Peterson said. “Do they talk about it in that manner?” Modern Warfare I don’t participate in any games. I am completely inexperienced when it comes to playing video games. I just found out that the game has recently been made available.” On the other hand, Peterson was a great deal more open and honest about the various problems he was having with the Cardinals’ organization.
How is it going with Steve Keim? Following the game, Peterson had a conversation with the general manager of the Cardinals while they were still on the field. “You’re still avoiding me.” Peterson also said that when he played for the Cardinals, he sometimes got bad “fan mail,” which was made up of messages to the team’s management that was critical of his play.
“I’ve heard a lot of things about me with the other organization,” Peterson is quoted as saying. I was given a letter from the owner expressing their displeasure with the fact that I was unable to tackle it, was too old, and had lost it. Peterson was able to claim victory over his former team on Sunday, and with the Vikings’ record improving to 6-1, the rest of his season appeared to be proceeding favorably as well.
