The Warriors brought the ball up the court to begin play. Klay Thompson was being marked by Jaden McDaniels when he worked down the floor. Thompson made a slight attempt to push off, but McDaniels caught his jersey and his arms began to swing.

The T-Wolves hub Rudy Gobert attempted to draw back Thompson, but Green grabbed him instead. The seven-footer was then forcefully hauled away for a full seven seconds while Green locked him in a headlock.
In addition to Green receiving a flagrant 2 foul and two double technicals from Thompson and McDaniels, all players were automatically ejected. There was still no score.

As soon as the fight started, Draymond Green ran up to Rudy Gobert and placed him in a headlock.
Green may yet be subject to more penalties; in the next several days, a suspension may be imposed. The concept that he was only attempting to maintain calm was not well received by subsequent replays.

The underappreciated moment in that tape was when Karl-Anthony Towns of the Timberwolves tried to give Green a taste of his own medicine by yanking him off of Gobert, but Green refused to let up, putting his chin down like a seasoned MMA fighter.
With this expulsion, which was his 18th overall (postseason included), Green now leads all active NBA players. Just this past weekend, he was ejected for the seventeenth time, but in even more dubious circumstances.

In addition to Stephen Curry’s absence due to a knee strain, the Warriors were further depleted of personnel when McDaniels, Thompson, and Green were all sent off the court.
Back in April, Green and Gobert got into a heated online argument on social media.
