WATCH: The Greatest Pickup Game of All Time Feat. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving vs Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Stephen Curry

During the 2011 NBA lockout, when there were no competitive games to play, players frequently picked up games with other professionals to get some in-game experience. A blockbuster with the finest NBA players, such as LeBron James, squaring off in a pickup game was one such case. Chris Paul, a Winston-Salem native, and four-time NBA All-Star held the CP3 All-Star Pickup Game on the campus of Winston-Salem State University on October 1, 2011, bringing together an all-star collection of friends for an evening of friendly competition and celebration for a good cause.

The CP3 charity basketball showcase took place at the University’s C.E. Gaines Center, with Paul and all-star guests LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Josh Howard, and more on the court, benefiting local initiatives and scholarship programs of the CP3 Foundation as well as the athletic program of Winston-Salem State University.

The videos depict a spectacular competition in which the stars go at it head-on, with no holds barred. An excited audience watches as the generations’ best performers compete and put on a show for them. While pickup games are usually laid-back affairs, this one, including LeBron, Steph, and KD, appears to be anything but. All the stars are throwing buckets at each other, with LeBron James, in particular, appearing to be locked in.

At the Gaines Center on Saturday night, 321 points were tallied in the Chris Paul CP3 All-Star Pick-Up Game. The final score was 175-146, with Paul’s home side winning the game after a player bounced a ball against the gym wall and caught the rebound on the fly for a tremendous slam. For a moment, it appeared that the game would not start. The Gaines Center seats roughly 3,200 people, and around 300 people were still waiting outside 20 minutes after the scheduled tipoff time.
