WATCH: Drew Brees’ scary video of getting struck by lightning was a promotional stunt

NFL fans were left stunned after a video of Drew Brees being struck by lightning was doing the rounds on social media. The former New Orleans Saints quarterback was in Venezuela when the incident occurred.

Several fans were worried about Brees and whether he was doing fine after the video clip showed him being struck by a bolt of lightning. The shoot was taking place at Catatumbo in Venezuela, a location known for its lightning strikes. The strike seemed to tee off the production crew and Brees before the video was abruptly ended.

However, there is no need to worry as it was later confirmed that Brees was simply shooting for a promotional campaign for a sportsbook and the lighting strike was also staged. Reports also confirmed that nobody on the set was in any sort of danger.

Despite the news that Brees and the camera crew were fine, some fans were aghast at the type of promotional events being shown. A few also felt that the video clip seemed to have crossed the line. Nonetheless, fears were allayed after Brees was considered to be fine after the stunt.
