Was Ryan Fitzpatrick the ‘mistery motherf*cker’ Brady talked about?

Everything that involves Tom Brady automatically becomes a major thing. In the rare moments when we see Brady unfiltered, with his personality driven for success with the next big thing, we’re always interested to see – especially now that he has retired from the league and everything he does will be off the field.

As Brian Flores lawsuit against the Miami Dolphins has brought up a lot of stuff against the team, especially the Dolphins’ plans to tank the 2019 season and get themselves a better quarterback, it looks like one of the NFL’s biggest recent questions has been solved, and it doesn’t bode well for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

But first, let’s go back to 2021. Brady featured in an episode of ‘The Shop’ from HBO, and he spoke about his free agency tour – that never happened, but it was still an interesting topic when he became a free agent after the 2019 season. During the episode, Brady told the story of when he was shocked to hear one of the teams wanted to stick with his quarterback and wasn’t interested in signing him at the end.

“One of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end. I was thinking, ‘You’re sticking with that motherf–ker?’” Brady said.

The discussion right after his appearance was centered over two names: Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers, the team that Brady was a fan of as a kid, and Derek Carr from the Las Vegas Raiders. There was, obviously, no confirmation from the quarterback.

But Flores’ lawsuit revealed an important detail about his stint with the Dolphins. Owner Stephen Ross asked the then-head coach to come and dine in his yacht with him and an unnamed free agent quarterback which would violate the league’s tampering rules. Flores said he refused to do so and he’d never violate the rules, and that’s what made the relationship with Ross ‘difficult’, according to the lawsuit.

So, maybe, that motherf**cker, all along, was Ryan Fitzpatrick? One of the nicest guys on the Earth???

Fitzpatrick started most of that 2019 season for the Dolphins and he stayed with the team in 2020, losing his starting spot to Tua Tagovailoa midseason in a move that still doesn’t make a lot of sense, especially as the Dolphins were winning. But, still, Brady calling Fitzpatrick out that way was just weird. Anyway, we can now lay to bed the whole discussion about who received such compliment from the greatest of all time.
