Warriors’ Draymond Green Calls Out ‘Idiot’ Dillon Brooks In A Rant

It’s safe to assume that the Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies game on Thursday will be a must-see event. With the tense playoff series from the previous season, there was already some antagonism between the two clubs, but Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks recently added to the commotion.

Warriors’ Draymond Green Calls Out ‘Idiot’ Dillon Brooks In A Rant

By going on a protracted tirade in which he calls Brooks an idiot and queries if anyone in Memphis genuinely likes the 27-year-old, Green has now added a new chapter to the hate-filled tale.

Brooks was recently on record saying “I don’t like Draymond at all” and “Draymond talks a lot, gets away with a lot too.”

Given that Green really works in the NBA media industry and is perhaps the player who pays the most attention to what’s being said about the league, he took notice of Brooks’ remarks and replied angrily on his podcast.

Green started out his tirade with some very conventional comments, but after congratulating himself on all that he had achieved on the floor, that is when he launched his most brutal attack on Brooks.

“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies (are) not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here,” Green said.

“I’m trying to figure out why they like you in Memphis. Or do they like you in Memphis? That’s a better question. I’m not sure your teammates like you,” Green said.

“But I can tell you why they like me over here. When you contribute in the way that I contributed to four championships, they tend to like you!

“So, next time you speak up on me, you should do some fact-checking. Next time you speak up on me, you should do some soul-searching. Next time you speak up on me, I hope you’re in a better situation than you’re in now where the guys you’re playing with actually enjoy playing with you because they actually think you’re contributing to winning because it ain’t happening right now champ.”

Players speak trash all the time, notably Green and Brooks, but Green’s implication that Memphis is devoid of trash talk strikes a different chord.

On February 7, when the Grizzlies played the Chicago Bulls at home, Brooks received jeers from the crowd. His leash with Memphis fans is on the (very) short side given his ability to shoot the basketball a bit more than supporters expect him to given that he only shot 2-for-12 from the field in what ultimately turned out to be a win versus Chicago.

While Green can be incredibly annoying on his own, playing for Golden State has undoubtedly contributed to his Hall of Fame aspirations, as his contributions as a defensive stopper, a teammate, and a rebounder while partnering with players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and, at one point, Kevin Durant, have helped to mask some of Green’s offensive flaws.

Nonetheless, he has done far more than Brooks and, as a potential Hall of Famer, has virtually earned the right to throw some smack.

Then he did some trash-talking on his most recent podcast broadcast.
