Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Leaves His Own QB Kirk Cousins Out Of Top 5 QB List

In an interview with Danilo Lacalle, Justin Jefferson gave his top 5 QB list and left his own teammate Kirk Cousins out of it.

Jefferson’s top 5 list went as follows:
1.) Patrick Mahomes
2.) Aaron Rodgers
3.) Joe Burrow
4.) Jalen Hurts
5.) Josh Allen

If you asked 10 people, all 10 people would probably tell you these 5 QBs are within their top 8, you could make the argument that Kirk Cousins isn’t even a top 12 QB.

Fans are surprised that Kirk was left Jefferson list, they thought that purely out of respect for his teammate he would include him, But imagine he did Put Kirk in his top 5, it would still make headlines because Kirk isn’t a top 5 QB and Justin Jefferson saying so would be an overstatement. No matter what Jefferson said in that situation he it would have been talked about all over the internet.

In 2022 Kirk Cousins put up 4,547 passing yards, 29 TD passes and an average passer rating of 92.5, a very respectable season but it is not top 5 standard. The Vikings ended the regular season with 13 wins just ot lose their very first playoff game to the Giants. I think even Kirk Cousins can admit he wasn’t up to the top 5 standard, last year. Kirk responded to Jefferson leaving him out of the top 5 by saying “”As a competitor, you’d always want that. People have to be honest and share what they think and I’m not going to tell somebody what they need to think. Hopefully in 2024, I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year.”

It’s always possible that Kirk could potential have a big season as a veteran similar to Geno Smith, but i don’t think that Cousins will ever be at that top 5 level. The NFL is a very competitive league and being top 12 in your position is an accomplishment in it’s self.
