VIDEO: Massive NBA Game Paused in Between as Robert Williams’ Insane Dunk Alters the Rim of the Ring
After a 40-minute holdup at Ball Arena, the NBA game between the Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets ended up lasting far longer than anticipated. Rob Williams’ dunk during the Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets game on Sunday night ended the contest abruptly. Williams’ slam bent the rim, and it took more than 30 minutes to fix it. By himself, Robert Williams added nearly 30 minutes to the Boston Celtics’ game versus the Denver Nuggets.
Midway through the fourth quarter of Boston’s 123-111 loss to the Nuggets at Ball Arena on Sunday night, Williams received a pass, tossed down an alley-oop, and dangled a little bit on the rim before coming to his feet. It turns out that the last section destroyed the rim.
NBA game paused due to Robert Williams’ dunk
The game had to be stopped with 6:43 left in the fourth quarter because the rim was uneven after Celtics center Robert Williams’ thunderous dunk. Players from both sides sought to get warm while waiting for the play to begin because there was no fast answer.

In Marcus Smart’s case, this meant kicking back on the court. The players had a lot of harsh comments about the 40-minute delay. Fans were able to laugh despite the mayhem, though.

The break wasn’t entirely useless. Deandre Jordan was able to have some fun with a little spectator who was watching from the courtside.
