USC quarterback Caleb Williams claims 2022 Heisman Trophy after spectacular sophomore season

USC Trojans superstar Caleb Williams has been awarded the 2022 Heisman Trophy award. Williams defeated TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan with ease after receiving 544 first-place votes and 2,031 points (1,420).

Football in Southern California has experienced a resurgence of excitement, power, and enthusiasm thanks to Caleb Williams, the Trojans’ turnaround season’s catalyst.

Williams stated as he began his speech of acceptance by expressing gratitude to the other competitors. “I may be standing up here today, but y’all get to the College Football Playoffs. Guess you can’t win ’em all,”.

The quarterback prepared meticulously for his 10-minute speech. Even more composed than when he plays.

Williams struggled to keep it together when thanking his parents. He was also a little emotional while talking about coach Lincoln Riley, who he accompanied from Norman to Los Angeles.

Southern California’s quarterback made USC the first school to win college football’s most prestigious player of the year award eight times thanks to his performances. After 17 years, USC has finally won a trophy once again.

The last time USC grabbed the Heisman trophy was when Reggie Bush, a running back for the Trojans, won for the second time in a row in 2005, In 2004, Matt Leinart won the Heisman Trophy and went on to win the national title. Each of Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Notre Dame has won the Heisman Trophy seven times.

Bush won the Trojans’ seventh Heisman trophy, but it was later revoked due to NCAA violations, which marked the start of USC’s decline.

After finishing fourth the previous year, C.J. Stroud of Ohio State was third in the voting. Stetson, the Georgia quarterback, came in fourth. On December 31, the top-ranked Bulldogs will compete in the College Football Playoff against Stroud and the fourth-ranked Buckeyes.

On New Year’s Eve, Duggan and the third-ranked Horned Frogs will take on No. 2 Michigan in the other CFP semifinal.
