UFC 291 Dustin Poirier Vs Justin Gaethje: Dates, Location, Fighting Card & Odds

The announcement that the BMF championship will be returning at UFC 291 sent shockwaves across the mixed martial arts community. Since Jorge Masvidal’s retirement, the championship has been vacant, creating a vacancy in the UFC. However, the restoration of the BMF championship has rekindled the enthusiasm of both fans and competitors, as two of the most thrilling UFC competitors are poised to compete for the title.

Let’s review some of the things we know about UFC 291 as it approaches us for the summer. First of all, Salt Lake City, Utah will host UFC 291 on July 29. The location is located within Vivint Arena.

Rematch between Lightweights Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, who will square off for the vacant BMF championship, will serve as the main event’s highlight.

As two of the UFC’s most aggressive and exciting competitors, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje’s first matchup in 2018 was an immediate classic. Four rounds of intense combat between the two competitors passed before Poirier eventually submitted Gaethje with a crushing combination.

Five years later, Poirier and Gaethje will once again square off, this time for the BMF championship.

Confirmed Fights

The former Middleweight Champion Alex Pereira, who will be making his 205-pound UFC debut, will square off against Jan Blachowicz.

Along with Bobby Green, Tony Ferguson will be making a comeback after losing to Nate Diaz. Fans believe that this may be the pair of fighters’ last match.

Paulo Costa will make his comeback on the main card against Middleweight contender Ikram Aliskerov, who is coming off a decisive victory over Phil Hawes at UFC 288. Due to disagreements after many fights with Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker, Costa hasn’t competed since UFC 278.Five years later, Poirier and Gaethje will once again square off, this time for the BMF championship.

Michael Chiesa and Kevin Holland’s fight will serve as the main card’s opening act. Holland is riding high after defeating Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Chiesa will be aiming to win his first fight in over two years.

Welterweight strikers Stephen Thompson and Michel Pereira will square off on this program after many reschedules. The two were scheduled to face off at UFC 289 and UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Almeida, respectively.

On this card, heavyweight champion Derrick Lewis will make a comeback to face up-and-coming challenger Marcos Rogério de Lima. In contrast to de Lima, who has won four of his past five matches and will be attempting urgently to achieve this victory, Lewis has lost four of his last five matches.

Betting Odds UFC 291

Gaethje is a +105 underdog over Dustin Poirier, who entered as the -125 favorite. Expect some variation because the probabilities between the two are slim.

However, there is profit to be had here for both parties.

The odds now favor Jan Blachowicz over Alex Pereira by a little margin; the Pole is at -150, while “Poatan” is at +130.

Despite having only one fight in the promotion, Ikram Aliskerov is the favorite at -125, while Paulo Costa has unexpectedly entered as a little underdog.

Bobby Green is the clear favorite at -330, while Tony Ferguson is a huge underdog at +275.
