Tyrod Taylor Disappointed As He Loses QB Job To Tommy DeVito

Tyrod Taylor, the quarterback for the Giants, was informed today that Tommy DeVito, an undrafted rookie, will start on Monday night against the Packers as the No. 2 quarterback when Taylor returns to the active roster. Taylor took offence at it.

When asked today what he thought of Brian Daboll’s decision as head coach, Taylor said he was annoyed.

“Unhappy,” Taylor said. But that’s the nature of the game.

Tyrod Taylor was cleared to return from injured reserve this week. Taylor was struggling with a rib injury he sustained in Week 8 against the New York Jets. Taylor is likely to play for the Giants on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers as his practice window is open.

Head coach Brian Daboll, though, is travelling with DeVito, the New Jersey native who fans have gravitated toward since Taylor and Daniel Jones went out with injuries.

Due to a rib injury he sustained during the Giants’ 13–10 defeat to the Jets on October 29, he had missed the previous four games.

However, head coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday afternoon that Tommy DeVito, not Taylor, will start at quarterback for the Giants in their “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Packers and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, for the remainder of the season.

Despite his conciliatory demeanour, Taylor was clearly disappointed by the outcome.

“It’s tough, obviously as a competitor, not being able to go out there once healthy, it hurts,” Taylor said Tuesday. “But at the same time, it’s the nature of the business. … It’s tough. It’s disappointing, but it’s also out of my control.”

Taylor refused to discuss his feelings or any correspondence he had with Daboll over the choice. However, it’s understandable why he’s disappointed—he lost his position to a younger quarterback once more.

Despite the fact that the Dallas Cowboys overwhelmed the Giants in his first start on November 12, DeVito has helped the team win two straight games, including their Week 12 meeting with the New England Patriots. DeVito was effective, completing 17 of 25 passes for touchdowns via the air to Isaiah Hodgins.

But against the Washington Commanders on the road, DeVito had his greatest performance, throwing for 246 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Despite the fact that DeVito plays quarterback for their beloved club, it speaks to many Giants supporters who are in comparable circumstances.

Daboll, though, is just paying attention to what DeVito is doing on the field, which has been winning football recently.

Has Tyrod Taylor made the playoffs?

Taylor was the Buffalo Bills’ starting quarterback in 2017. After going 4-2 in Buffalo’s last six games, he led the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs, helping to break their 17-year postseason drought.

Is Tyrod better than Jones?

The outcomes seem to indicate that Taylor outperforms Jones in all three categories. Anticipation, decisiveness, and perhaps a little faith are the foundations of timing. Receivers in the NFL are rarely seen wide open unless there is busted coverage; as such, quarterbacks are often required to throw receivers open.
