‘Turn Clock Back’ or ‘black cock black’, ESPN announcer Tom Hart has his worst slip ever on a live TV show
If you think watching live TV is simple, you’re mistaken. Ask ESPN commentator Tom Hart, who prayed fervently before going to bed last night that no one was up late watching the Auburn-Vanderbilt game.
Tom must accept the fact that we are in the social media era and that there is no going back.

Say that last line ten times quickly! See? It is not simple.
Tom Hart is in trouble
Oh no. This may now be my favorite tongue slip out of all the ones I’ve heard over the years, some of which have landed people into serious trouble.
On ESPN, you can’t just say “black cock” and not immediately be inducted into the Hall of Fame of TV gaffes. They both realized immediately that this was one of Tom Hart’s classics.
“You can’t turn the black cock black.”

Fair enough, Tom was correct; you can’t make something black if it’s already black. The eighth inning of an SEC tournament game seems like an odd time to inform us, but whatever. I’m not judging.
And what about that? Tom deserves a lot of praise for persevering as well. He might have simply abandoned the idea after using the term “black cock” on ESPN, but he continued to work hard instead.

That proves to me that Tom Hart is a driven individual who starts things and sees them through to completion. In the world of today, we require more of that.
You deserve praise, Tom. I hope you stay employed.
