Turf Battle Continues As NFLPA Is Expected To File Grievance Against NFL, Which Are Teams With Turf Fields?
What Is The Turf vs Grass Issue All About?
The conversation around the NFL has largely centred on player safety and ways to reduce the risk of concussions. While those worries are legitimate and need to be carefully addressed, players can also get injuries other than brain traumas as a result of accidents. One of the concerned reasons is the use of Turf!
On their fields, more and more teams are selecting artificial turf over real grass. Even while the synthetic material has advantages, all the data points to the fact that it can be bad for NFL players’ health and career paths.
In the 1950s, the turf was created to help metropolitan communities replace playground asphalt and provide suburban kids with a safe, identifiable place to play.
It’s enraging what a joke the @NFL continues to be with its “concussion spotters”. Even if he didn’t exhibit symptoms, nobody effing saw his head bounce off the turf? Tua, of all people? The guy watching the video saw it and went “ooohhh” in horror!

It didn’t take long for sports teams to follow suit. The Houston Astrodome, home to the Astros and the Oilers, was constructed in 1965 and, after the original grass surface died, it was the first professional sports arena to use an artificial surface (also known as AstroTurf).
The NFLPA wants the NFL to eliminate turf fields & have every stadium uses natural grass to cut down on injuries@SteveMariucci doesn't think it's feasible #PatMcAfeeShowLIVE pic.twitter.com/NHsiskcQ2I

After Franklin Field installed artificial turf in 1969, the Philadelphia Eagles were the first club to use it in an NFL arena. (At the time, the Oilers played in the AFL.)

From a capitalist standpoint, it is simple to understand why owners like this investment. Although turf fields initially cost more, over time maintenance is far less than for grass.
They really need to get rid of that artificial crap & do real turf on these fields. The players are constantly slipping & sliding on that crap. NFL players are even complaining how dangerous it is for them.

Additionally, it gives you more freedom to hold lucrative events like concerts or conventions off-season. In the long term, artificial turf is preferable if you want to maximise your earning potential as a property owner.

In Carolina, the field was so deeply frozen that it felt like you were playing on concrete. Aidan Hutchinson quickly learned that lesson the hard way.
In actuality, it happened before kickoff.
The wind gusts and 20-degree weather weren’t the only issues, though. The turf field was frozen due to the subfreezing temperatures.
Jared Goff, the quarterback, made a statement after the game, in which Detroit lost by a score of 14.
The @Panthers' field is so hard that the @NFLPA is filing a grievance arguing the turf violated CBA protocols😳

I thought the field conditions were below NFL-level standards. Specifically, pregame. I know it warmed up a little as the game went on. I don’t know what the deal is here, but they need to figure out a way to make the turf not feel like cement.

This season, in particular, the ongoing NFL turf battle has been the topic of much discussion. Turf and grass are very different from one another.
The demand for grass grounds has been extensively expressed by players around the league. After playing on a natural surface, their bodies feel noticeably better, which quickens the healing process, lowers the chance of injury, and enables them to perform at their peak.

The NFL and NFL owners ought to want their players to be performing at their best, right?
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL Players Association is likely to lodge a complaint against the Carolina Panthers and the NFL over the playing surface at last week’s Christmas Eve game against the Detroit Lions.
The players’ pre-game complaints about the roughness of the field—which they claimed only became worse as the game went on in the bitter cold—are anticipated to be the source of the complaint. With midday temps far below freezing, it was without a doubt the coldest home game in Panthers team history.
