Trey Lance’s Reaction To Ran Carthon Securing Titans GM Job Stirs Trade Rumor
Trey Lance, the quarterback for the 49ers, shared a picture of Carthon on his Instagram story. Three emojis with their fingers crossed appeared the picture. This comes post-Ran Carthon, the 49ers’ director of player personnel, was announced as the new general manager of the Titans on Tuesday. Then a fascinating P.S. appeared.
Whatever Lance’s motive, one would reasonably speculate that he has his fingers crossed that Carthon will trade for Lance in his new position.
At one point Trey Lance will trade himself to another team because fans are way too dramatic about one small thing he posts on social media. Let that man live 😭

People will interpret Lance’s words that way even if it wasn’t his intention. Furthermore, it would be difficult to hold Lance responsible for wanting out.
They put everything on the line to get Lance in 2021, committing three first-round picks and a third-round pick to the deal. Expectations and pressure increased significantly. And it seems as though he has never truly been accepted.

Who could blame Lance for wanting out given the clear ramifications of the rise of Brock Purdy, sticking with Jimmy Garoppolo in 2021, keeping Garoppolo around in 2022, etc.?
The starting quarterback for San Francisco to begin the season was Trey. Lance, however, had an ankle injury that would end his season after only two games. Following Jimmy Garoppolo’s own long-term injury, the 49ers eventually turned to Brock Purdy.
Not sure who needs to hear this but the odds of Trey Lance getting moved are slim to none lmao
He’ll get a shot to compete with Purdy, and worst comes to worst it doesn’t work out. When you trade three 1’s for a guy, settling on a Day 2 pick after 3 starts just doesn’t happen.

As the starting quarterback for the 49ers, Purdy is now 6-0. When San Francisco defeated the Seattle Seahawks 41–23, he earned his first postseason victory. Purdy has performed far better than anyone anticipated, raising concerns about how the 49ers would approach the quarterback position in 2019.
Till at least 2025, Lance is still bound to the 49ers with his current contract. San Francisco, which traded up to choose Lance third overall in 2021, won’t give up easily.
I am NOT calling Brock the next Tom Brady. BUT, this is officially Brady > Bledsoe territory. The 49ers would be crazy to not make him their guy going forward. There will be a nice trade market for Trey Lance.

Lance is now the odd man out, though, if the 49ers believe Purdy will be their starting moving forward. Carthon could be able to persuade San Francisco to move Lance for a tonne of draught selections because his former CEO is now in Tennessee and the Titans are in need of a quarterback.
In 2023, the Titans might be looking for a quarterback. In the last year of his contract, Ryan Tannehill has a cap number of $36.6 million and a basic salary of $27 million. The Titans may be deliberating over their alternatives.
