On Monday night, May, 34, announced his retirement. The nine-year veteran pitched for the Athletics this season, going 4-4 with a 3.28 ERA and a career-high 21 saves in 49 appearances.

Trevor May, a reliever for the Oakland Athletics, criticized team owner John Fisher when announcing his retirement on his Twitch Live on Monday.

“Dude, sell the team. Man, sell it,” he said. “Let someone who actually, like, takes pride in the things they own, own something. There are actually people who give an s— about the game. Let them do it. Take mommy and daddy’s money somewhere else, dork.”

During a Twitch stream, May said, “To the A’s organization and every single person part of it, I love all of you, every single one of you, except for one guy and we all know who that guy is.”

May will become a legend in the Bay Area as a result of his remarks. One of the most despised sports owners, Fisher may be regarded as the worst person in the Bay Area.

After the Athletics’ lease in Oakland expires in 2024, Fisher intends to transfer the club to Las Vegas. This idea has drawn condemnation from Oakland city officials, fans, current and past players, and others.

The Athletics did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Tuesday, but in August, Fisher told NBC Sports Bay Area that he felt horrible about the situation and that he was offended to see Athletics supporters wearing “sell” T-shirts during games.

May has played in the big leagues for nine years; his first six were with the Minnesota Twins, followed by two with the New York Mets. The 34-year-old right-hander was 4-4 with a 3.28 ERA in 462 3 innings for the A’s in 2023 and had 21 saves.

In his final 15 appearances, he went 1-0 with nine saves and a 0.00 ERA, capping out an amazing career.
