Trevor Bauer: Shunned By MLB For Sexual Assault Allegations, Makes Debut In Japanese Baseball

Trevor Bauer, a former Cy Young Award winner, is currently pitching for the Yokohoma Baystars in Japan. One of the few circumstances the mysterious pitcher has been able to connect with has been a minor league club.

Trevor Bauer: Shunned By MLB For Sexual Assault Allegations, Makes Debut In Japanese Baseball

The Los Angeles Dodgers parted ways with the former ace last offseason following claims of sexual abuse and a protracted ban. He went to Japan because no team offered to add him. His debut went rather smoothly.

Bauer said via Marca:

“I thought the day went really well. The stuff was good, the command was good. The health was good. I feel like I’m ready to compete now, but I have to build my pitch count.”

Bauer pitched four innings and recorded six strikeouts. He gave up just four hits as well. He added:

“I’ve stayed ready. I didn’t feel like I’d been away at all. The game came to me well. It didn’t speed up on me. I commanded the ball. There really wasn’t any adjustment. Just competitive baseball instead of throwing to hitters in a cage.”

In Japan, he will ultimately go to the major levels, but for now, he is stepping up in the minors. Even so, Trevor Bauer’s debut drew a sizable crowd for the lower league squad, which seldom draws many fans. About 15 times more people watched their stream than usual.

The one-season deal Trevor Bauer has to pitch in Japan is all there is to it. He probably agreed to a one-year contract since he didn’t want to commit to staying abroad for an extended period of time.

Nevertheless, after that, he may go back to MLB. Will he be capable of it?
