Trevor Bauer Is Unhappy With His Japanese Teammates: Asks Them To “Wake Up”

During his most recent start, Trevor Bauer was not at all pleased with his Yokohama DeNA Baystars colleagues, to the point that he was heard yelling, “Wake up!” after a difficult inning on defense.

Trevor Bauer Is Unhappy With His Japanese Teammates: Asks Them To “Wake Up”

In Saturday’s matchup between the club and the Chunichi Dragons in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball, Bauer, a pitcher for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, stopped a bases-loaded comebacker.

But instead of tossing it to first base, the disgraced former Cy Young ran alone to the position.

In what appeared to be his final inning of the night, Bauer could be seen yelling “Wake up!” and other unheard cries toward his teammates as he approached the dugout.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was down 2-0 to the Chunichi Dragons and had runners on first and second with two outs and a 3-2 count against the hitter, which meant the runners would steal on the pitch.

The hitter then hit a ground ball to the second baseman, which is when chaos on the base paths started.

The hitter seemed to be moving quickly out of the left-handed batter’s box, so the second baseman decided not to throw the ball to first to end the inning after he spotted the runner stealing from first base never stopped moving toward third base.

The Dragons’ main issue was that the runner at second base never broke for home, which meant that two runners would eventually congregate at third base.

Bauer probably believed it would result in an out, but when the original runner on third began to advance toward home, a classic pickle play between home and third resulted.

With the bases loaded and Bauer feeling very agitated, all the runners eventually went back to their starting positions without being struck out.
