Trevor Bauer Gave Up A Home Run To The First Batter Right After Being Demoted To Japan Minor League

The Yokohama Baystars of the Nippon Professional Baseball League have relegated former National League Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer to the lower levels.

Trevor Bauer, a former Cy Young Award winner for the National League, is struggling mightily in Japan.

Bauer is being transferred to the Yokohama Baystars’ farm system after playing this season in the Nippon Professional Baseball League following the lifting of his ban from Major League Baseball.

The MLB hasn’t employed Bauer, the NL Cy Young Award winner from 2020, since 2021. He was placed on administrative leave while serious sexual assault claims were being investigated, and he was later suspended in accordance with the league’s domestic violence policy.

The once-dominant ace, who maintains his innocence and has never been charged with a crime, was reinstated in 2023 but no team wanted to sign him. At the time, Trevor Bauer’s choice to go to the Nippon Professional Baseball League appeared logical.

Bauer was demoted to the minors by the Yokohama DeNA Baystars less than six months later. Even if hindsight is 20/20, no one could have foreseen the previous Cy Young Award winner’s drastic collapse.

For Bauer, his time in Japan has been difficult, and this week it only managed to become worse.

The BayStars reassigned Bauer to their minor league farm team after he had an 8.40 ERA in three games in an effort to give him a “adjustment start.” It certainly didn’t begin the way he had hoped.

The first hitter Bauer faced in the contest ended up hitting a big home run. In the end, he would rebound and retire 10 hitters in six innings. He only gave up the home run and one other run the whole game.

Twitter was used by MLB fans to respond to the news. After this astonishing change of events, fans are skewering the right-handed pitcher.
