Trent Brown Has Some Hilarious Advice For Rookie Cole Strange

Trent Brown is aware that Cole Strange will play in the NFL for a very long time.

However, Brown has observed how harshly the youngster can judge himself while lining up next to him. Strange was selected by New England in the first round of the draft last spring, and that comes with high expectations. Brown, who is used to having high expectations, has therefore made an effort to urge Strange to stay in the present. After practising at the University of Arizona on Wednesday afternoon, he humorously delivered that message.

“I think especially with him, he feels like he has a lot of weight on his shoulders and he’s his own biggest critic,” Brown said. “So I just try to tell him, next play, have a short memory, and everything will be all right.

“Everybody’s going to fuss, good or bad. The fans are going to talk (expletive), good or bad. (Expletive) ‘em.”
“We’re trying to get some cohesiveness to the unit. Trying to get some continuity. I think we’re starting to gel,” Brown said. “Moving forward, we’re doing some things: Being able to play off each other, understanding who we’re beside and I think it’s starting to come together.”

This season, the offensive line has had a lot of difficulties keeping Mac Jones standing, but Brown thinks things are improving. Four-fifths of the Week 1 starters are still in place, and Brown sees a group that is starting to gain momentum with the return of David Andrews.
In the win over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, Strange played one of his better performances of the year. He and the other members of the Patriot’s offensive line had some issues with pass protection, but they also refocused in the second half and consistently provided strong run blocking.

When the Patriots play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, Strange will hope for another good performance as a middle finger to his critics.
