Travis Kelce Takes A Subtle Hit At Aaron Rodgers, Gives Him A Nickname

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, has nicknamed Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, “Mr. Pfizer,” since Kelce is one of the new COVID-19 vaccine spokespersons.

Despite having previously shrugged it off by joking that “I look like someone named Mr. Pfizer,” Kelce chose to make a small dig at Rodgers in a recent Wall Street Journal interview.

During a Tuesday interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers—who has expressed his disapproval of the coronavirus vaccine—called Kelce “Mr. Pfizer.” Rodgers, who injured his Achilles tendon four plays into his Week 1 start with the Jets, was mentioned by Kelce as having “game days” during those guest appearances.

Since Rodgers now plays for the Jets, who are owned by J&J heir Woody Johnson, Kelce answered by referring to him as “Mr. Johnson & Johnson.”

Travis responded to Rodgers’ challenge to engage in a vax discussion this past week in an interview with the Wall Street Journal by taking a jab at him.

“He’s in a situation where Tuesdays are his game days…. So I get it, man, I’ve been injured too…. Who knows what the guy is going through,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end responded.

Nonetheless, Kelce and Rodgers have been spotted together this season. On October 1, Rodgers grabbed attention at MetLife Stadium before the Jets’ primetime game against the Chiefs.

Even with the lighthearted dig thrown in, Kelce seemed to be taking a little of the high road with the remarks. Although the Jets quarterback’s question about vaccines seemed to chill things up a bit, the banter between him and Rodgers doesn’t seem to have an end in sight.

Kelce divulged their conversation, which was seen on the MetLife Stadium turf that Sunday night.
