Travis Kelce Responds To Aaron Rodgers’ ‘Mr. Pfizer’ Dig: “I thought it was pretty good”

Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets recently slammed Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for his recent cooperation with Pfizer to promote the COVID-19 vaccine, but the two-time Super Bowl winner answered on Friday with his own jab.

Rodgers made a joke about the Jets’ defence shutting down “Mr Pfizer,” alluding to Kelce, who has starred in advertisements for the company’s COVID-19 vaccine.

“There’s some sort of moral victory out there that we hung with the champs and that our defence played well,” Rodgers said. “‘Mr. Pfizer,’ we shut him down,” said Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes. He didn’t have a crazy impact game. Obviously, he had some yards and stuff, but I felt like, for the most part, we played really tough on defence and played well the last three quarters.”

During a news conference ahead of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Kelce, 33, was asked about Rodgers’ comments earlier this week in which he obliquely referred to Kelce as “Mr. Pfizer.”

“I thought it was pretty good,” Kelce laughed. “With the ‘stache, I look like a guy named Mr. Pfizer. Who knew I’d get into vax wars with Aaron Rodgers, man? Mr. Pfizer versus the Johnson & Johnson family over there.”

In terms of Johnson & Johnson, Jets owner Woody Johnson is a descendant of the pharmaceutical company’s riches.

Rodgers has previously expressed reservations about the COVID-19 vaccination.

Kelce did not appear to be concerned in the same way. When asked about the collaboration, Kelce reiterated his faith in the vaccine.

“Once I got the vaccine — I got it because of keeping myself safe, keeping my family safe, the people in this building. So yeah, I stand by it one thousand per cent. Fully comfortable with him calling me Mr. Pfizer,” he said.

Kelce has been difficult to miss in recent weeks, with his alleged girlfriend Taylor Swift attending the Chiefs’ previous two games.

He confessed that he believes the NFL broadcast partners are “overdoing” the footage of Swift cheering on the Chiefs from a suite.
