Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard proclaims himself as second-best shooter in NBA after Steph Curry

Damian Lillard is one of the best shooters in the NBA, and he knows it as well. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar recently surpassed 18,000 points for the franchise as they beat the Houston Rockets 107-95 at Toyota Center.

He is now on the verge of becoming the Trail Blazers’ all-time scorer as he closes in on the 18,040 points record by Clyde Drexler. Lilliard is a six-time NBA All-Star and has been part of the league for more than 10 years. Despite his incredible records and scoring ability, the 32-year-old claims that he is the second-best shooter in the league.

To be fair, he has a point. Lillard claimed that only Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has a better shot than him in the NBA.

What did Damian Lillard say about Steph Curry?

While speaking to reporters recently, Lillard said, “Obviously I think Steph (Curry) is the greatest ever, but I think after him, I don’t see why I’m not clear-cut in that discussion, not just by makes, but how I shoot it, how I make tough ones all the time, how easy I shoot the ball.”

Curry has led the Warriors to four NBA championships and racked up a whopping 20,843 points in 852 games on 42 percent three-point shooting over the past 13 years or so. Meanwhile, Lillard has 18,020 points in 729 games on 37 percent from long range. Lillard also recently moved to 8th among the all-time NBA 3-point scorers. It’s no surprise that Curry leads that list.

Lillard and Curry are arguably the two best shooters in the NBA. However, Curry is just slightly ahead of Lillard in terms of shooting accuracy.
