Trae Young’s Rumoured Hawks Displeasure Could Lead To Trade

Are the Hawks getting old to Trae Young?

According to rumours, the All-Star point guard may be planning his departure as the Hawks continue to have trouble.

According to rival executives present at the NBA’s annual G League Winter Showcase this week, if the team “doesn’t make gains come postseason time,” Young might be the next top player to request a trade, according to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, who cited unnamed sources.

Trae Young’s Rumoured Hawks Displeasure Could Lead To Trade

Young joined the Hawks in August of last year and is currently in the first year of a five-year, $207 million rookie agreement. The 24-year-contract old’s features an early termination option after the 2025–26 season, however, it is valid through the 2026–27 season.

The Hawks lost against the Bulls on Wednesday, 110-108, dropping their record to 16-16 as a result. With 34 points, six rebounds, and six assists, Young led the Hawks.

According to Haynes, the Hawks demoted Travis Schlenk, President of Basketball Operations, to an advisory position on the same day.

Six of the Hawks’ last ten games have ended in losses. Together with the Heat and Pacers, they are tied for seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Young missing a game against the Nuggets earlier this month due to a rumoured altercation with head coach Nate McMillan was another sign of probable trouble in Atlanta. Later, the coach told reporters that Young’s absence was caused by “miscommunication.”

Since making it to the Eastern Conference finals two years ago, the Hawks have experienced chemistry problems. They were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round last year after falling to the Heat in five games.

Dejounte Murray, an All-Star guard, was added to Atlanta’s backcourt in the offseason, a move that Young supported. However, with trade speculations currently circulating, it has only totalled up to a.500 records thus far.
