Top NFL MVP contenders after 3 Weeks of football action – Quarterbacks

Early season superlatives suggest a player has started well. Three weeks into the season, some are shining, but will they keep it up?

It’s how you finish, not how you start. In three months, all of this season’s hard work and highlight reel plays will be forgotten. Kyler Murray was on MVP pace for the first half of last season, but he and the Cardinals bottomed out.

Lamar Jackson

The Ravens quarterback has shown his class. The Baltimore offense has been dominant through three games, scoring 99 points.

Jackson has been flying and running. He averages 330 yards alone. His 250 yards per game aren’t tops, but his 10 TDs are. Jackson has 243 yards and two TDs, tying for fourth in the NFL.

Josh Allen

Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins reminded us that Josh Allen is still human. Allen’s blunders after each half cost the Bills points and ultimately the game.

The Bills QB had an opportunity to spike the ball after the first half to give Tyler Bass a field goal, but he mishandled the snap and passed it to Stefon Diggs, leaving points on the field.

Patrick Mahomes

The Chief’s offense had difficulties scoring for the first time this season. The special team’s mistakes helped the Colts beat the Chiefs for the first time this season.

In the Chiefs’ 44-21 triumph over the Cardinals, Mahomes threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns. Since Week 1, Mahomes’ stats have been decent.

Stats: Comp: 67.9%  857 yards 8TD 1INT

Tagovailoa Tua

One of the league’s two undefeated quarterbacks was at risk during the summer. No one in Miami could fathom the Dolphin’s offense without Tua Tagovailoa, but he injured his back on Sunday.

Stats: 72%. 925-yards TD: 8 INT: 2

Jalen Hurts

Who thought Jalen Hurts would be in the MVP debate in week 4? In his first two years in Philly, there were worries about Hurts’ future.

In his third year in Philly, he leads the league’s most dynamic offense. He’s averaging 297 yards per game, and he and new receiver A.J. Brown appear to have deadly chemistry.
