Top Five Things You Did Not Know About NBA Superstar Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin is entering his 14th year as a professional in the NBA. During his time in the league thus far, Griffin has established himself as one of the best players in the league. He has won numerous individual awards but the main prize of an NBA championship has always alluded him. The six-foot-nine-inch center has represented four teams so far in his career and currently plays for the Boston Celtics. 

Griffin started his career at the Los Angeles Clippers, who took him as the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Griffin played nines seasons for the Clippers before moving to the Pistons, where he played for three seasons. After playing for the Nets for a single season, Griffin moved once again, this time to Boston. Today we take a look at five interesting facts about Blake Griffin. 

Beat some serious competition 

In the 2009 NBA draft, Griffin was the first overall pick. The 2009 draft had arguably the greatest pool of talent that any draft has had and Griffing beat out some serious talent in order to be the first pick. The likes of James Harden (3rd pick), Stephen Curry (7th pick), DeMar DeRozan (9th pick) were a few names that Blake Griffin beat. 

Dating a Jenner

While Griffin has dated multiple women, perhaps his most famous ex is Kendall Jenner. The couple started dating in 2017 and dated for a few years before calling it quits. 

Dunk Contest 

In the 2011 dunk contest, Blake Griffin won the contest by jumping over a Kia car and scoring a perfect 50 points in order to take the title home. 

Stand up comedian 

Blake Griffin is a big fan of standup comedy and during his time in LA, the 33-year-old practiced standup comedy at various different spots. He made his comedy debut hosting the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal in July 2016.

Charity 

On March 13, 2020, Griffin pledged to give $100,000 to the staff of the Little Caesars Arena who were unable to work during the suspension of the 2019–20 NBA season because of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
