For the better part of two decades, Chris Paul has graced the NBA with his skill and technique. During the time that he has been in the NBA, Paul has played with five different teams and won multiple individual awards. Unfortunately, the biggest prize in basketball has always eluded him.
Chris Paul was drafted as the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2005 draft by the New Orleans Hornets. He played for the Hornets for six years before moving to the Los Angeles Clippers for five years. He then played two seasons at the Houston Rockets before playing a single season at Oklahoma. Since 2020, Paul has been at the Phoenix Suns. Today we take a look at a few interesting facts fans might not know about Chris Paul.
Rookie of the Year
In 2006, in his first season in the NBA, Chris Paul was voted Rookie of the Year for his performances. This was the first of many individual awards he would go on to win during his time in the league.
Jersey Retired
Chris Paul spent two years playing basketball at Wake Forest before declaring for the draft. Paul had a stellar two seasons at Wake Forest and, in recognition of the same, his jersey was retired by the college in 2011. And in 2021 he was inducted into the hall of fame.
Intentionally scored 61 points
During his senior year in high school, Chris scored 61 points in a game to honor every year of the life of his 61-year-old grandad Nathaniel Jones. While there was more time left on the clock and he did have more opportunities, Chris stopped at 61.
A 16-year wait
In 2021, Chris Paul, along with the Phoenix Suns, reached the finals of the NBA, where they took on the Milwaukee Bucks. Although they ended up losing the series, this was the first time in his 16-year career that Chris Paul reached a final.
