Top 3 running backs for the 2022 season

The running back position lost a ton of value over the last two decades, with teams transitioning more and more to a passing offense as the spread offense dominated the NFL.

With so many touches during a season and the injury risk as high as always, it’s not worth it anymore to use a high-pick on a running back, especially when everybody knows that you can find a superstar in the later rounds.

Check out the top 3 running backs for the 2022 NFL season

#1 – Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

The Browns’ offense will run through Chubb in 2022, especially if the expected year-long suspension of quarterback Deshaun Watson comes to life. He combines a lot of power and speed in his runs, making him really difficult to tackle. Even though Cleveland has the best running back depth chart in the NFL, Chubb is the most elusive and best pure runner of them all. He always delivers even in a light workload and 2022 should be no different.

#2 – Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

We all know what Derrick Henry can do and, if he’s injury-free in 2022, he will be back to carrying a huge workload of the Titans’ offense and getting close to the NFL record of most yards in a single season. With A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, Henry should become even more the focal point of the offense. The Titans should be careful with how they manage his workload, especially considering that he’s been in the league for a while. But his quality – and his ability to break tackles – is undeniable.

#3 – Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

Taylor has a rare combination of power, quickness and speed to add to his name, and he was by far the NFL’s most productive running back last season. He’s still a great option for this year, as his ability to break away over small holes in the offensive line and accelerate is almost unmatched in the league. I just don’t think he’s going to put the same numbers and that’s for a good reason: the improvement from Carson Wentz to Matt Ryan is massive and they should lean less on Taylor, which is a good thing for his health.
