Tony Ferguson’s Retirement Is Unsure
Tony Ferguson is known as one of the greatest UFC lightweight fighters that had ever stepped inside of the octagon. Ferguson joined the UFC back in the year 2011. His first fight inside of the octagon was against Ramsey Nijen and he defeated him with a great knockout finish within the first round of their fight. Tony Ferguson also has incredible endurance and cardio which helped him last long in fights and this allowed him to gain the advantage on many of his opponents.
After losing to Michael Johnson in May of 2012 Ferguson began one of the greatest win streaks the UFC had ever seen. He won the next 13 of his fights straight and fought some very great fighters inside of his division. But in May of 2020 his record was finally broken after a very harsh loss to Justin Gaethje who is another incredible UFC fighter inside of the lightweight division. After this loss Ferguson’s career has came down by a lot, he has lost his last eight fights straight. We could be seeing the end of Tony Ferguson’s mixed martial arts career very soon.
Tony Ferguson Loses to Michael Chiesa
Tony Ferguson has just fought at a UFC fight night in Abu Dhabi against a fighter named Michael Chiesa. Ferguson is an incredible striker and also great at the ground game. Many fans were expecting him to make his come back during this fight. He was training very hard and he stated that he was going to be able to take more control of this fight. He also stated that he learned from the mistakes he made in his fight against Paddy Pimblett.
But his fight against Chiesa did not go well at all and he was submitted by Michael Chiesa during the first round of the fight. During the fight Chiesa was able to take control of the pace of the fight and play the offensive very early. Chiesa was able to get to Ferguson’s back and managed to get in into a position where he was able to land a rear naked choke. This rear naked choke finished off Tony Ferguson in the first round announcing his eighth loss in a row.

Ferguson Lays Down a Glove
After Tony Ferguson lost his fight to Michael Chiesa he was interviewed by the great Daniel Cormier. Ferguson put one of his gloves on the ground which signals that he could be retiring. But fighters always put down both gloves if they are confirming that it is their last fight.
But Ferguson stated “It ain’t time. I got sh*t to work on.” So we can possibly see this mixed martial arts legend fight once more and possibly end his losing streak.
