Tom Brady On Mike Evans Suspension: “Its Ridiculous”

Tom Brady is letting everyone know what he thinks about the incident that resulted from the now-famous altercation between cornerback Marshon Lattimore of the New Orleans Saints and Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend.

According to Fox News, Tom Brady confronted an NFL official directly after Scott Miller’s pass was entirely missed. But Lattimore allegedly made a motion at Brady as he approached the field. Marcus Maye and Leonard Fournette would eventually show up. Then, when Evans was spotted storming over and knocking Lattimore to the ground, things turned pretty violent.

The NFL made the decision to punish Evans for one game in reaction to the event. Tom Brady was prepared to comment on the league’s decision, even though Mike Evans allegedly intends to challenge it.

Tom Brady said on the most recent “Let’s Go” podcast, “I love Mike.” And Mike is a teammate and a buddy, so the fact that he would stand up for me means the world to me. And Mike is aware of my feelings for him. So, in the end, sports do include feelings. They occasionally reach a boiling point, as they evidently did yesterday.”

Tom Brady made it obvious that he didn’t believe Evans deserved to be punished, despite the fact that he said it was an awful case. “I consider that to be absurd. Hopefully, we can move past it and arrive at a better place. In the end, I’m grateful that Mike has my back. He’ll take something away from it, I’m sure. And he is aware that we are all on his side”.

On the podcast, Brady continued to argue that Evans shouldn’t be “singled out.”

Obviously, if I didn’t run down there to argue with the call … if things weren’t said back and forth between both teams, it could’ve been avoided,” Brady said.

There’s a lot of things that go into it, and there’s a lot of things at fault, so I don’t think Mike should be the one to be blamed and singled out. Unfortunately, he has been, and that’s just the reality of life in the NFL.”

The outcome of Evans’ appeal against his suspension ought to be known by Wednesday. Evans’s availability will be crucial for the Buccaneers as they play a key NFC rivalry this week in the Packers.
