Tom Brady comeback? Don’t rule it out
Tom Brady spent a single weekend at his house and decided it was enough.
Okay, that’s not exactly what happened. But Brady, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, didn’t rule out a comeback when speaking at the ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast on Monday, confirming that, while he was happy to walk away from the game, it’s always possible to reconsider his decision six months from now.
“I’m just gonna take things as they come. I think that’s the best way to put it and I don’t think anything, you know, you never say never”, said the 7-time Super Bowl champion. “I try to make the best possible decision I can at the moment, which I did this last week. And, again, I think it’s not looking to reverse course, I’m definitely not looking to do that. But at the same time I think you have to be realistic that you never know what challenges there are gonna be in life.”
Brady decided to retire after a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs. He engineered a 24-point comeback against the NFC Champions, but his defense couldn’t stop Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp one final time. He left the league after a 21-year career where he won seven rings and became the greatest player ever.

Brady also added that his decision to retire wasn’t related to injuries or falling off a cliff in regards to his play, and that it had to do with factors outside the sport.
“I think the choice is, everything certainly comes at a cost, and the cost is what am I missing out on other aspects of my life?” he said. “And things that are, as you get older, you experience things that are outside of the sport that demand the level of attention and energy that football has always gotten. And it’s time for me to commit to those types of things.”
We’ll be following what Brady decides to do over the following months. Sure, since he retired, the chances of his comeback are really slim. But we’re talking about a guy who said for years that he wanted to play at 45 years of age. What if this desire starts burning brighter in his heart? What if a last rodeo with Rob Gronkowski is his biggest wish?
Let’s wait until September to find out what Brady will be doing during the NFL season.
