NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is seeking a recently retired star Tom Brady to remind rosters of the league’s anti-gambling policy amid the rash of players receiving suspensions for gambling.

To Address The NFL Players’ Gambling Violations, The League’s Commissioner Seeks Tom Brady For Guidance

According to Mike Klis of 9News, Brady allegedly appeared in a league-produced instructional film where he discusses the NFL’s gambling rules.

This film, which appears to be one of the three methods the NFL informs its players of what is and isn’t allowed, is apparently presented during the team’s rookie minicamps and training camps. The fundamental principles of the policy are rather straightforward: Don’t wager on anything NFL-related, and don’t wager at team locations.

This warning comes as a fresh NFL crisis, involving numerous players suspended for breaking the league’s anti-gambling rules, is developing. Isaiah Rodgers, a cornerback with the Indianapolis Colts, is now the subject of an investigation for betting on NFL games. It appears like the league will permanently ban him.

Young wide receiver Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions was one of five players suspended earlier this offseason for breaking the rule.

Williams, a 2022 first-round selection of the Lions, received a six-game suspension. He was expelled for placing bets on sporting events at the team facilities. On NFL games, he didn’t wager. Stanley Berryhill, a former Lions wide receiver, was also given a six-game suspension for a related offence.

In his video message, Brady, widely recognized as the best quarterback in NFL history, focuses on his passion for the game and how being an NFL player is a once-in-a-lifetime honor. He emphasizes that wagering on NFL games not only compromises the league’s integrity but also damages everyone connected to the club.

Brady knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL since he recently retired after an outstanding 23-year career that featured a record-breaking seven Super Bowl victories. He highlights that one poor gambling choice may potentially damage a player’s future as well as the chances of their colleagues and other players in the future.

This policy forbids betting on football and other sports, game-fixing, releasing private information like a player’s availability without their consent, utilizing sportsbooks, and simply not competing aggressively enough.
