Tim Tszyu’s Next Fight: Location, Tickets And Fight Card For Tszyu Vs Harrison

On Sunday, March 12, at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, Australian boxing hero Tim Tszyu will compete for his first world championship against American former champion Tony Harrison.

With a lot of attention both domestically and internationally, it is expected to be one of the most significant battles in recent Australian history.

The arena at Sydney Olympic Park has a capacity of just under 20,000, with a sellout crowd expected to see the popular Aussie in action.

In addition to the headliner, promoters No Limit Boxing have ensured a host of Australia’s best boxing talent will be on display on the undercard.

In November 2021, Tszyu defeated Takeshi Inoue in front of a unanimous decision to win the show’s opening slot.

The full fight card is still being finalised but several names from No Limit’s stable of boxers have been confirmed to appear.

Tszyu’s younger brother and rising star Nikita, as well as Paulo Aokuso and Sam Goodman, are in the mix.

  • Sam Goodman vs. TJ Doheny
  • Ben Mahoney vs. Koen Mazoudier
  • Paulo Aokuso vs. Yunieski Gonzales
  • Issac Hardman vs. Rohan Murdock
  • Nikita Tszyu vs. Bo Belbin

A host of Australia’s best boxing talent has put their hand up to fight on the show, so there’ll be no shortage of names for matchmakers to choose from.

Tim Tszyu vs. Tony Harrison

The 12-round championship fight between Tszyu (21-0) and Harrison (29-3-1) will be for the interim WBO super-welterweight world title.

Harrison, 32, held the WBC championship at 154 pounds before Jermell Charlo deposed him.

Originally set to compete for the uncontested championship against Tszyu, 28, Charlo was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

The son of former undisputed super-lightweight champion Kostya Tszyu offers a huge step up because Harrison is the only fighter to have defeated Charlo.

Sam Goodman vs. TJ Doheny

On the same card as Tszyu, 24-year-old super-bantamweight Goodman (13-0) will compete against Irish veteran TJ Doheny in a bout (23-3).

The 36-year-old former IBF world champion, acknowledges Goodman, will be his most difficult opponent to date.

quoted Goodman as saying, “He’s certainly my greatest test.”

He is a skilled fighter; he has only been defeated by the finest of the best.

“A seasoned pro and a cunning adversary. Despite being a decent southpaw, I still need to engage in these kind of battles because I believe I can prevail in them.

The IBF intercontinental and WBO oriental belts at 122 pounds will be on the line during the ten rounds of combat between the two.

Paulo Aokuso vs. Yunieski Gonzalez

Aokuso (3-0) has had a strong start to his professional career and is one of the emerging stars of Australian boxing.

Gonzalez (21-5) of Cuba will face the 25-year-old for the IBO intercontinental light-heavyweight championship.

The southpaw is eager to show off more of his arsenal this time around after winning his past two fights through second-round knockout.

Aokuso told The Sporting News, “I’m simply going to stick and move.”

“When he wants to brawl, I’ll brawl.

“I haven’t shown much of my skills in my last three fights so hopefully this fight I’ll be able to show more.”

Koen Mazoudier vs. Ben Mahoney

Mazoudier (11-2) vs. Mahoney (13-0), a domestic bout of the greatest calibre, is building up to be a riveting addition to the fight bill.

Both fighters, who are 27 and in their prime, contend that they are Australia’s finest super welterweights after Tszyu, and they will face off for the WBA Oceania championship.

Mahoney hasn’t lost as a professional, while Mazoudier has won three straight matches, including avenging his most recent setback against Wade Ryan.

Issac Hardman vs. Rohan Murdock

Another all-Aussie event is likely to feature pyrotechnics.

They have only used the judges once in each of their last six battles.

Hardman (13-1) has been working out in America with people like former super-middleweight world champion Caleb Plant after receiving our Knockout of the Year on Beau Hartas.

He will go up from middleweight to face Murdock (26-2), a similarly aggressive Queenslander who has no desire to put in extra time.

Nikita Tszyu vs. Bo Belbin

The Tszyu brothers will square off against one another on the same card for the first time in their professional careers.

Nikita, who is three years younger than Tim and has won all four of his professional fights, has acquired a popularity for his thrilling and frequently ruthless style of play.

He will compete against unbeaten Tasmanian Bo Belbin (7-0).
