Tigers put RHP Spencer Turnbull (forearm strain) on IL

The Detroit Tigers placed right-handed starter Spencer Turnbull on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right forearm strain.

Turnbull started Friday’s 9-8 loss to the Chicago White Sox. When he entered the dugout after the fourth inning, he reported the injury to the team trainer and was pulled from the game. He gave up one run on two hits and struck out four.

The 28-year-old is in his fourth season with Detroit and is 4-2 with a team-leading 2.88 ERA. In nine starts, he has struck out 44 batters and walked 12 over 50 innings.

On May 18, he no-hit the Mariners in Seattle in a 5-0 win.

In his career, Turnbull has an 11-25 record and a 4.25 ERA. That includes a 3-17 (4.61 ERA) record in 2019.
