Tiger Woods Ends Years Long Partnership With Nike
One of the most recognizable sports branding alliances in history has come to an end with Tiger Woods’ announcement that he is no longer a Nike athlete.
Tiger Woods Ends Years Long Partnership With Nike
Throughout his illustrious career, Woods and Nike had shared a 27-year collaboration, which ended on Monday morning.
In a statement on X, Woods said, “I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world over 27 years ago,” and shared a photo of himself with Phil Knight, the creator of Nike.
It's official.

“The days since been filled with so many amazing moments and memories, if I started naming them, I could go on forever. Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way. People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA.”
Throughout his professional career, the 15-time major winner has served as the face of Nike’s golf products, but after 27 years, he has made the decision to take a different approach. At the PNC Championship in December, Woods made hints that the collaboration would come to an end. On Monday, he confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement.

Since emerging as one of the biggest stars in sports, Woods has become associated with the Nike swoosh on his chest and has been the subject of several classic commercial campaigns. The information is a severe setback for Nike, since Woods is still the biggest attraction in the sport despite his injuries and limited playing schedule.
A separation has been the subject of rumors for the past month after the golf podcast “No Laying Up” hinted at an impending split. In an interview conducted prior to the PNC Championship last month, Woods expressed hesitation. Woods said, “I’m still wearing their product,” in response to a question about “clarity” on the relationship. However, he did not elaborate more.

For Nike, the separation occurs at a critical juncture. Since November 2021, the share price of the corporation has decreased by almost 40%. When Nike said in 2016 that it would no longer be producing golf equipment, the company started to distance itself from the game while still signing notable players.
