Throwback: Charles Barkley Reveals of his Crush on Tom Brady
Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has an old relationship with the New England Patriots. During his days with the NBA, Barkley had visited the Patriots dressing room after games and he knows New England head coach Bill Belichick personally.
Recently, an old video went viral on the web where Barkley is seen attending the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show. While in the chat show, the former power forward said that Belichick once welcomed him to the Patriots’ Super Bowl training session in Atlanta. Interestingly, the NFL legend Tom Brady was present at the scene.
The 58-year old told an incredible story about an encounter he had with the then Patriots quarterback.
“I can’t look him in the eyes”, Barkley was mesmerized after meeting Tom Brady
Barkley said, “I made a mistake, Jimmy. I looked Tom Brady in the eyes. I’m looking at these guys and all of a sudden I look at Gronk (Rob Gronkowski) and then Tom Brady is right here, and I look him in the eyes, and I said, ‘Damn, you’re a pretty man.’ That’s what I was thinking to myself. I got so embarrassed I started turning my head to talk to him. Like, I was like, ‘Hey Tom, it’s good to see you, man. I haven’t seen you in a while.’”
“I see why he scores all those touchdowns because the defense is looking at his eyes and get mesmerized. That Tom Brady, he’s a pretty man. He’s a nice guy, too, but man, I can’t look him in the eyes”, he continued.
Tom Brady is admired by all, irrespective of their gender
Brady was widely regarded as a heartthrob nearly 18 years ago. After spending 21 years in the league, the veteran still remains one of the most admired footballers, alongside the younger brigade joining the league. In this regard, Barkley joining the ranks of the GOAT’s admirers is a sweet touch.
Brady is, without a doubt, a handsome young man. And, amazingly, Barkley wasn’t scared to approach his man card at the door in order to gush over a footballer who both men and women adore. It seems being Tom Brady has its perks.
Barkley’s bet against Brady’s Patriots went wrong
During the chat show, Barkley also said something that Patriots fans could find offensive. He once placed a Super Bowl bet on the Los Angeles Rams against the New England Patriots. However, it turned out to be a poor decision, as Belichick’s team won that night. Tom Brady was the team’s QB at the time.
Jimmy asked Charles, “What’s the worst bet you ever made?”
The NBA legend replied, “That would be betting against Bill Belichick. That was just stupid.”.
“That was just stupid on my part. You can’t bet against Bill Belichick” he admitted.
Although Belichick and Patriots supporters might be angry on Barkley for betting against their team, they must admit that it required the former basketballer to possess immense guts to disclose his betting record on a live television program. His supporters will adore him for being straightforward. And meanwhile, Brady should be joyful that a sporting legend has a crush on him.
