This Bizarre Punishment by the NFL Reduced Dalvin Cook’s $7,426 Fine to $5,941 for Throwing a Football Into the Stands After a Touchdown
Though the first six weeks of the 2022 season, the NFL has raked in fines of over half a million handed out to various players owing to different reasons. The most recent example of the same was a $7,426 fine to Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings for throwing the football into the stands after a 53-yard touchdown by the running back.
The NFL informed #Vikings RB Dalvin Cook it reduced his fine for throwing the ball into the crowd Oct. 16 from $7,426 to $5,941, per source.
Under the CBA, the 25% reduction is contingent on Cook completing an online remedial training course and not getting fined again in 2022.

Late in the fourth quarter, Dalvin Cook took a 53-yard touchdown to the house to essentially put the game away — it gave the Minnesota Vikings a 22-10 lead over the Miami Dolphins with 3:15 to go.
However, the NFL has now reduced the $7,426 fine down to $5,941 contingent on Cook taking up an online course as reported by Tom Pelissero. He said, “The NFL informed #Vikings RB Dalvin Cook it reduced his fine for throwing the ball into the crowd Oct. 16 from $7,426 to $5,941, per source. Under the CBA, the 25% reduction is contingent on Cook completing an online remedial training course and not getting fined again in 2022.”

The fine will not really burn a hole in Cook’s pockets given he signed a five-year $63 million extension with the team in 2020. This works out to a little over $12 million a year for the running back which makes him one of the highest paid in the league.
